Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello everyone!
I hope you've all had a lovely day :) Reece surprised me with a delivery of roses to my house in Manchester as I don't get to see him until Saturday. For someone who is rarely romantic, Reece really does know how to surprise me! I was floored. They are beautiful.

This is my very first Valentine's Day with someone so it's been a lovely change! Reece and I exchange gifts on Saturday, so I can't wait for that.

Hope you're all well,
Love and kisses to you all xxx

Weekly Summary #42

Shopping, Best slipper socks, Packed for London,
Reece's bed with Charmed and snacks, Ready to leave for the Megabus, In London,
Alexisonfire KILLING IT, Set list, On the way home.

  1. Sorry for the lateness of this post, but I've been at Reece's/in London for the entire weekend, without internet. I have two more posts coming up this week too.
  2. Reece and I went to London to see Alexisonfire's Farewell Show at Brixton Academy. It was INCREDIBLE, easily the best gig I've ever been to. The venue was full to capacity too, there was such an amazing atmosphere I'm just gutted it's the first and last time I'll ever see them play.
  3. The rest of the week was pretty dull, just lots of dissertation work and essay planning. Uni finishes on the 14th so it's deadline ahoy from here on in.
I hope you all had wonderful weeks,

Thanks for reading x

Weekly Summary #39

Burrito, Rain City Tattoo, Reece's finished tattoo - Bill Murray from A Life Aquatic..
Dissertation reading (each post-it is colour themed), Lovely print by Gre Hale from Reece, New trainers,
And bag, More dissertation reading, Going home.

  1. Last week was a busy one. Reece came to get tattooed in Manchester on Tuesday, so I accompanied him (and watched him squirm) as he got a portrait of Bill Murray tattooed on his leg by Matt Cooley - who, by the way, is the nicest guy ever. I also go treated to the lovely print in the fifth photo. It's two mice entwined, with banners reading 'To Be Alone With You'. The cutest thing ever.
  2. My packages came this week, which was probably the most exciting thing to happen all week. Wild, I know. The trainers are so comfortable, and the bag is worth every single penny. I love them both.
  3. I also got worried about my dissertation progress, or lack of, so started reading. I have on novel to read and one left to mark up and then I get to seriously get stuck in. Hopefully by the start of next week.
  4. This coming week I am working every single day. I have 3 days work experience at Manchester University Press, which I am ridiculously excited about. I really want to get in to publishing once I finish my degree (dreams of doing a Masters will have to be put on hold) so these three days are going to be so helpful. I can't wait!
  5. I also bagged myself a month-long editorial internship with Moonproject.co.uk where I'll be working from home, proof-reading and publishing articles onto the website. I start mid-December. I'm proud of the way I am a bit like a dog with a bone when it comes to getting work experience - I won't take no for an answer. My CV is filling up nicely, even though my social life may be dwindling.
  6. I need to start Christmas shopping. Now. ARGH.
A busy week for me! And this one shows no sign of slowing down!

I hope you all had a nice week. Must dash, I have 50 pages to read before I can call it a night.

Thanks for reading xx

Weekly Summary #38

£50 Domino's, Coffee date, American sweeties,
Ootd, Again, Purchases,
Ootd, ALEXISONFIRE TICKETS ARRIVED, Buy one get one free gingerbread lattes

  1. This week was my reading week from uni; safe to say absolutely no reading was done. I am actually starting to panic about how little dissertation work I've done to be honest. Kick up the arse is needed!
  2. Reece stayed in Manchester this week, you can see what we got up to in this post :) It was lovely to have him here for longer than a day.
  3. We came home on Wednesday evening and I have been working every day since - helpful for Christmas present-buying money, but a bit crap otherwise.
  4. I also managed to get into a huge fight with a taxi driver. He turned up 20 minutes late,  making me late for work, so I refused to pay. He tried to follow me into work and threatened to phone the police. Luckily, the lovely managers at work stuck up for me and got rid of him. Very hectic, and scary.
  5. MY ALEXISONFIRE TICKETS CAME. Definitely one of the highlights of a rubbishy weekend; Reece and I are off to London the first weekend in December to attend the farewell gig. I can't wait!
Definitely a week of two halves, but some cheeky (and cheap) purchases have helped sooth the wounds of a crap weekend!
I hope you are all well!

Adventure Time (featuring boyfriend).

This week is my reading week from university (read: half term - no classes) so Reece came to stay for a couple of days. He arrived at my house at 10am on Monday, after spending over an hour travelling due to shitty rail replacement coaches, and spent the day in bed as he came straight from work (he works nights and finishes at 7.30am).

It's safe to say Monday was spent watching copious amounts of South Park, eating pasta and ordering an obscene amount of pizza. Possibly over £50 worth of pizza.

On Tuesday we got up early, for us 10am is early, and spent the day in town.
I showed Reece around the Northern Quarter, my personal favourite area of the city centre - it has the nicest cafes and shops, but it is slightly more expensive. It also has a Carhartt store (which Reece loves), so we spent a good 20 minutes in there poring over the ridiculously overpriced clothing. I kind of fell in love with a tote bag in there, but at £55 it certainly didn't make it's way home with me.

Just a note: Urban Outfitters is a bad place to go when you have been paid a healthy wage and slightly expensive taste. Safe to say a lot of money was spent (not by me, I'm skint), however I was treated to a jumper - it was on sale! Although, I am ridiculously jealous of the Herschel rucksack he bought.

On the way to finding Rain City Tattoo - Reece has an appointment next week, we took a wrong turning due to my pants map-reading skills, and found a traditional sweet shop, selling everything from American cereal and confectionery (helloo mint M&M's) to good, old, proper sweets. It was ace. And expensive, like £6.50 for a box of Lucky Charms expensive.
Before entering Reece said 'Don't take me in here, I always spend too much money'. He did.

We found Rain City Tattoo - eventually - and then went home. I had a go at making chicken noodle soup; it wasn't horrendous. Definitely not a 'proper' chicken noodle soup, but it was tasty and took about 40 minutes to make. I may post the recipe on here soon.

Today was home time for the both of us. It was horrific. The Autumn rain finally hit Manchester, we had a bus driver with serious anger management issues, and had to catch a (delayed) train and then a rail replacement coach home.

The journey from Manchester to Huddersfield takes 30 minutes by train, an hour including getting the bus from my house to the station. Today we left my house at 3.20pm and didn't arrive back in Huddersfield until 7.15pm. On the upside, I did read the first 100 pages of MAUS  (amazing) which I have to read for a class Monday.

I also took a creeper photo of Reece sleeping, where he looks so cute, but I promised I wouldn't post it anywhere. Spoilsport.

It's been a lovely couple of days, and to be a bit soppy, I couldn't be much happier right now.

I hope your week is going wonderfully so far.

Thanks for reading xxx

Weekly Summary #37

Off to Huddersfield, Scary eyebrows, Reading material,
Alkaline Trio, Sausage sandwich and potatoes, Homeward bound,
Caramel syrup, Cuddles, Walkies.

  1. This week has flown by, and I don't really have much to show for it - dissertation worry is kicking in now. I went to Reece's on Tuesday and spent the night. We watched Dexter and slept a lot. Definitely not an 'active' pair.
  2. My sleeping pattern is seriously out of sync; I haven't been sleeping until gone 3am and it's driving me mad as I waste half the day/have to get up really early and then feel like death. Not good.
  3. I finally got some caramel syrup from Starbucks to go in the coffee that my friends bought me for my birthday. I haven't tried it yet though. It was only £3.75 surprisingly!
  4. Reece is coming to stay in Manchester with me tomorrow until Wednesday; it's my reading week for university so we're hanging out here and then I'm going back home for work on Thursday. Hopefully some reading will get squeezed in there somewhere(!!!)
On paper it has been a ridiculously dull week, but I feel like I haven't sat down. Probably because I've been constantly on and off trains. Sigh.

I hope you've all had lovely weeks!

Weekly Summary #34

Epic food shop, Pasta Norma, Dissertation meeting,
Cinema Trip to see Perks, My favourite men, Birthday pressies from Reece,
Cuddles with Oscar, Birthday present from me, And another.

  1. I hope you'll forgive the Monday post (yet again) but I've had a massively busy week! I had my first dissertation meeting and I think I may have the basis of a decent project, I just need to get my nose stuck into reading some Virginia Woolf and soon!
  2. I was still ill for the beginning of the week so I missed work experience on Tuesday to recuperate in bed.
  3. I went to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Abbey on Wednesday and it was brilliant. I wasn't a massive fan of Emma Watson as Sam, I always envisaged her to be a bit more ballsy, but she was good regardless. The screen play was written by the author anyway, so it was never going to be bad. It was great.
  4. I stayed at Reece's on Friday night as we were supposed to be going to a gig (Jonny Craig in Leeds) but it has been postponed until next Thursday so we just stayed in bed and watched Homeland (which I haven't finished yet, but it is amazing!) I was also given my birthday presents, which I am in love with. The Janoskis haven't left my feet.
  5. My New Balance 410s also arrived. They are like hugs for my feet. I love them.
I'm thinking of doing a post on the things I have got for my birthday (not a bragging one, obviously) if you would like to see it. I was given some money and have bought a few things.

Thanks for reading :) x

Weekly Summary #33 (21st Birthday edition)

First day back at uni, Princess Diaries, Coffee cake,
Off to Huddersfield, Compromise - football and film, FINISHED!
Going home, Reunited, Birthday meal starter,
And main, Birthday OOTN, On cola

  1. Hi guys! I'M 21 TOMORROW!! So this week has been crazy! I started back at uni on Monday, went to see Reece on Wednesday, went to Leeds on Thursday then back to Manchester on Friday and then finally back home on Friday evening.
  2. Reece took me into Leeds and we went for an early birthday meal at Zizzi's in the Light. Italian food is my ultimate favourite so we gorged ourselves. He also bought me my replacement Jonny Craig ticket as he lost the other in his room somewhere. Fool.
  3. I also went out on Saturday night with my work friends, although due to catching a horrible cold off Lydia and feeling generally poop all week, I laid off the alcohol and went home early. I also rang in sick to work today and spent my time in bed recuperating. I now feel much better, although wish I could have stayed out a bit longer.
  4. I also had my inner arm tattoo finished. It only took about 40 minutes and didn't hurt half as much as the first session. I'm so pleased with it.
  5. Colette and I exchanged gifts tonight, as we won't see each other on our actual birthday. She got me a beautiful silver Fossil watch, which needs a link taking out, a feather bracelet and a feather ring. They're stunning. I refrained from wearing them until tomorrow though. I've got a stack of cards to open from family too, I feel very, very lucky. I think being 21 is going to be good.
I'm currently in bed and plan on watching Despicable Me and reading the last 50 pages of a book for uni tomorrow. It's been a good week :)

I hope you're all lovely (as always)

Weekly Summary #32

Pasta Norma for lunch with Abbey, New tattoo, Painting Reece's toenails - naturally,
Final uni book arrived, Masterchef marathon snacks, Caps texting,
Off to town, Blogged, Chicken and bacon wrap

  1. Hardly any photos this week as it's been another busy one! I had work experience on Monday and Tuesday; I'm really enjoying my time there, and I was given copy to proof-read before it goes into print tomorrow. Very exciting!
  2. Wednesday meant an induction at uni and then lunch at Font with some of the lovely ladies, and also hopping on the train to Leeds to get my leg tattooed by the lovely Sway at Sacred Electric. It was a spur of the moment decision sometime last week where I saw a sheet of flash he had drawn up and wanted to tattoo the pieces. I chose one and got booked in for Wednesday. I am ridiculously happy with it and Sway is a genuinely lovely guy. It was fun. I met Reece on the train back to Manchester and he came to stay for a couple of nights. It was lovely.
  3. I stayed in Manchester this weekend due to being off work so I have literally done nothing. Well, I popped into town yesterday on the lookout for a parka, but had no luck. I did buy a lovely jumper from Zara though, for a tenner.
  4. I'm back at uni tomorrow :D and can't wait. It feels like forever ago since I last sat in a seminar. I'm excited to have the routine again, I feel like this year is the year that counts, and I feel ready for it. I'm a better, stronger person than I was last year so I'm ready to give it my all. Cheesy.
I'm off to catch an early night and do a bit of reading for the seminar tomorrow! I hope you all had a lovely week :)

Weekly Summary #31

Lunch time purchases, Nandos with friends who came to Manc, Cuties,
Abbey gave blood, Reunited, Being annoying,
Post work McDonalds, Best test, Best t-shirt @getbentsaggy

  1. Yet another hectic but, overall, good week. Work experience is still going well - post on that soon. I did three days in the office last week, an intern left so some different work will hopefully be sent my way. It's all really interesting.
  2. A not so good thing to happen this week; I lost a friend. It's a strange and sad thing, but sometimes these things have to happen. It was nice for a time, but onwards and upwards I guess.
  3. I had the loveliest day with Reece on Friday. I'd had a pretty naff couple of days, but going home and seeing him was just the pick-me-up I needed. We stayed in bed and watched The Warrior (recommend!!) and South Park. He's coming to Manchester on Wednesday evening and staying until Friday, which will be a lovely couple of days.
  4. I'm getting tattooed on Wednesday afternoon. Again. I can't wait!
  5. Student loan tomorrow a.k.a buy a TV License and pay rent/bills. Being a grown up is all the fun. May have a cheeky look in Topshop. Maybe.
  6. We have a full house in Manchester again! Lydia and Nat moved back in tonight so we're all here together. I can't wait for this year to start properly, although I do have a lot of reading to get stuck into before next Monday.
I hope your weeks have been lovely too :)
Thanks for reading x

Weekly Summary #30

Day One of work experience, Malteaser tart after lunch, Reece instagramming his burrito,
Taco Bell lovin', Purchases, Lunch with Lydia,
Night in, OOTD, CV,
Finally got around to starting this - I'm a fan, Going home, Rude not to,
Midnight purchase, Window shopping, Dog nicked the ice cream tub,
Night out, Doggy cuddles, NEW BOOTS ARRIVED! (H&M)

  1. Yet again: long time, no speak. However, this time it was not due to laziness; my laptop went and decided to break - highly inconvenient as it disrupted my work experience placement - but it is all fixed now!
  2. Saying that, I managed one day of work experience! It is a lovely little place to work, I'm enjoying it a lot. I haven't really stuck my teeth into it yet, but I'm back tomorrow for a few days, so we'll see how it goes! I'll definitely do a post after this week to let you know how it went!
  3. Due to the lack of laptop and lack of work experience, my boyfriend came to stay the night. I went home on Monday evening as I had a driving test on Tuesday (failed, but nevermind). I met Reece on the train to Leeds as we went to pay off his tattoo. We then hopped on another train to Manchester. We spent most of the time eating - Yo! Sushi, Taco Bell and a takeaway in the space of 24 hours - and shopping. He is such an enabler it's ridiculous. I had a lovely time showing him a few of my favourite places, I'm sure there'll be plenty more of that to come.
  4. Lydia also came back to Manchester for a couple of days so we had lunch at Bella Italia. It's so nice when she comes back, it feels so much more like home with Lydia around, she truly is one of my best friends. I can't wait till we're all back in the house together, although a third Fresher's Week doesn't seem a joyous prospect I must say.
  5. Last night I went out with my work friends to celebrate a few people leaving (sob). A couple are going off to start uni, and one left to go to another (better) job. It was bittersweet, but still lovely; especially after a horrible shift at work.
So there we go, another busy, eventful week. I spent the rest of the evening watching X Factor and My Sister's Keeper with Lauren. It's great to be back in Manchester.
Tomorrow I'm back at Comma and then home on Wednesday to attend a memorial service for the lovely teacher who sadly passed away a couple of months ago. A visit to Reece will be squeezed in at some point too.

More posts are coming! Including a University Experience post (as they seem to be the most popular) and a post all about my first 'proper' week at my work experience placement.

Thank you all for reading, it is truly appreciated, you lovely lot :) xxx

Weekly Summary #29

Outfit, Arthur, Henry Snuggles,
Cheeky Arthur, Jam tart, Reece was a cute child,
Treated us to pizza and chips, To-do listing my life away, Closer,
Starey dog, Aesthetic arrived! - post to come, Bagged a boyfriend,
Hangover train to Manc, Red velvet hangover cure, Crossroads is still an ace film,
More red velvet, Poached eggs love, Fall Out Boy = car soundtrack

  1. An eventful and busy week! I am blogging to you from my bedroom in Manchester. I moved the rest of my stuff in tonight! I'm so happy to be back, it truly feels like home here!
  2. As you can see, I am not longer a single lady (sorry Beyonce). I'm extremely happy and completely smitten. It is a bit rubbish that I will now be in Manchester most of the time, whilst Reece in back in Yorkshire, but he's coming to stay in just over a week, so all is not lost!
  3. I start work experience tomorrow! I will be working at an independent book publishers situated in the Northern Quarter, I went for a wander to find it the other day, and it is situated almost directly behind my favourite cafe (which happens to sell that red velvet cake - oh dear) so I predict I shall be getting a bit tubbier! I cannot wait to start and see what this new experience brings; I have been continuously emailing the lovely people who work there and they have been extremely accommodating - I can't wait!
  4. One downside is my laptop is breaking; the charger connection is a bit loose, and I have to take my laptop to work experience so it may all go a bit Only Fools and Horses. I think I'll take it home with me and try to get it fixed as soon as possible!
  5. Aesthetic Magazine arrived! I am so impressed with the final product, Michelle and all the other contributors have worked incredibly hard and it shows. It is a tremendous little magazine and I am ridiculously proud to have been able to contribute. I adore the way my article turned out, (I wrote the book review, if any of you ladies have read it).
So there we go, a very busy week indeed. I think I may have my blogging mojo back - I have ideas for a couple of posts; there will definitely be a few work experience posts, and a full post dedicated to Aesthetic.

I hope all of your weeks have been equally as lovely as mine,

Talk soon and thank you for reading x
